How to care for your silk duvet
A silk duvet requires very little maintenance. Air the duvet regularly, and wash it only when necessary.
Daily care
- Air the duvet regularly, preferably outdoors in the shade.
- Always use a duvet cover to protect the duvet.
- Avoid direct sunlight for extended periods.
For stains
- Gently dab the stain with a damp cloth.
- Avoid rubbing the silk filling.
Washing
- The silk duvet can be machine-washed on a gentle silk cycle.
- Use only detergent intended for silk.
- Avoid regular detergent, fabric softener, and bleach.
- Choose a low spin speed to take the best possible care of the silk filling.
Drying
- Allow the duvet to air-dry completely.
- Avoid tumble drying and direct heat.
- Gently shake the duvet during drying so that the filling is distributed evenly.

The smaller amount of silk filling makes the duvet lighter, while still providing silk’s naturally temperature-regulating properties. It is therefore not only suitable for summer, but can also be used all year round by those who generally sleep warm.
All-season duvet - more warmth and loft
Our all-season duvet contains more silk filling and therefore provides a warmer, fuller feel.
It is a good choice if you want one duvet that can be used for most of the year, have a normal to cool sleeping temperature, or prefer a little more warmth around your body at night.

What is silk filling?
The difference between silk filling, cotton and down
- Silk filling: Temperature-regulating, breathable and moisture-repellent. Silk adapts to your body temperature - cooling in summer and warm in winter. It does not clump and feels light and evenly distributed across the entire pillow.
- Cotton filling: Dense and heavier. Cotton retains moisture well and may therefore feel warm and damp during the night.
- Down filling: Very airy and warm, but may clump together over time and lose its shape. Down can also attract dust mites and requires regular shaking and airing.
Short- vs. long-fiber silk filling
- Long-fiber silk filling: Made from continuous silk threads from whole silk cocoons. The fibers are strong and elastic, forming an even, durable layer. This provides a luxurious, smooth feel - and helps it retain its shape for many years.
- Short-fiber silk filling: Made from broken or shorter silk fibers, often leftover material from silk production. It is less expensive, but slightly less durable and may feel a little looser or more “wadding-like”.
An important misconception
Many people think that there is smooth silk fabric inside a silk duvet - like the kind used in silk bed linen.
In fact, the filling consists of many layers of fine silk fibers, which together form a natural, airy and insulating material. It is more like a thin, lightweight layer of wadding than a smooth piece of fabric.
