Cillouettes’ own silk
At Cillouettes, we work closely with our supplier of mulberry silk and with our own seamstress, who transforms the silk fabric into the products you find in our range.
We have chosen this model because we want as few links as possible between raw material and finished product. It provides better control over quality and ensures that we can offer silk products that meet our own requirements for comfort, durability and finish.
Developed in collaboration with specialists
Silk is a natural material, the quality of which depends on both the raw material and the processing. That is why we collaborate with producers who have many years of experience in silk production and who work with the classic methods within mulberry silk.
This allows us to choose silk that both feels luxurious and holds up well over time.
Close collaboration with manufacturers
Silk is produced by specialist farmers who work with silkworms and mulberry trees. For us, it is important to have a close collaboration with the manufacturers, so that we know exactly what quality is used in our products.
The direct dialogue makes it easier to ensure a uniform quality and choose silk with long fibres, which gives a stronger and more comfortable fabric.
The quality of silk
An important factor in the quality of the silk is the so-called momme, which is a unit of weight for silk.
Momme measures the density and weight of silk fabric. A higher momme usually gives a more durable, substantial fabric, while a lower momme makes the fabric lighter and more sheer.
For our products, we choose a quality where the silk both feels soft, breathes well and at the same time has a density that gives an exclusive feeling.
100% Real Silk
At Cillouettes we work exclusively with 100% pure mulberry silk. This means that the material is not mixed with polyester or other synthetic fibres.
It is precisely the purity of the material that gives silk its characteristic properties:
- A very smooth and soft surface
- Natural temperature regulation
- A light and breathable material
- An elegant and luxurious expression
Why we choose mulberry silk
Mulberry silk is generally considered to be the finest type of silk because the fibres are longer, smoother and more uniform than in many other varieties of silk.
This gives a fabric that feels extra soft against the skin and which at the same time has a nice structure and shine.
When we develop new products at Cillouettes, the focus is therefore always on choosing materials that combine comfort, quality and a timeless design.
